Laura Pascual is currently Technical Director for the Transmission Electron Microscopy Service at the Institute of Catalysis and Petrochemistry (ICP-CSIC).
Her earlier research lines were dedicated to the study of the photoluminescent properties of porous silicon and sample preparation for the microstructural characterization by High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM) at the department of Applied Physics of the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM). (2001)
Her PhD was developed at the Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid (ICMM-CSIC) and addressed the study of materials used for energy storage devices, in particular LiMn2O4-based materials as cathodes for lithium-ion batteries and also carbon nanofibers as supercapacitors. (2002-2006)
Now, at the ICP, the research line is focused on the characterization of materials by HRTEM and related techniques, such as STEM-HAADF. These include heterogeneous catalysts and electrocatalysts for PEM fuel cells and electrolysers, among others.
Laura Pascual has published 61 articles in international journals that have been presented at more than 50 national and international conferences. She is currently collaborating with several groups from different research institutes which allows her to cover a wide spectrum of materials with different applications.
